Will I be able to ride an Electric Scooter??
You don’t need any prior experience to ride our scooters. They are very easy to use and basic training is included. Most riders get the hang of it straight away, simply jump on and explore! Average speed is around 28km/h and it is a perfect stress-free way to explore while still feeling the wind through your hair.
Will I be able to ride an Electric Skateboard??
The electric skateboards are for the more adrenaline inclined. They reach speeds of up to 30km/h and are a bit harder to master. However, the large decks are ideal for beginners and pros and for added stability you can attach a handlebar which turns them into scooterboards.
Where to go??
With the scooters, you can explore almost everywhere ( Except within the CBD and on the state highway), but with the skateboards, you have to stick to the recommended route along the lake shore trail.
Explore around the nearby parks or gardens, lake sore trails or suburbs – the choice is yours. Have a bit more time? Embark on a self-guided tour along the lakeshore trail.
Simply follow the recommended route which circles around the Gardens, onto the Frankton trail, all the way around the Frankton Arm of Lake Wakatipu. We will provide you with a route map which included things to do and see along the way (see map here).
There is also a water ferry which departs hourly from various locations along the track should you run out of battery power or if you would like to mix it up.
How do I get back to Queenstown?
You can hire your ride for as long as you want to and return on the same track back to Queenstown. However, if you feel like mixing thing up you can jump onto the water ferry with your scooter/skateboard and enjoy a 20min ride back to town. The water ferry departs every hour from four convenient locations along the route. See route map here or the Water ferry schedule for pick-up points, and contact details.
Age or Weight Restrictions?
Due to licensing restrictions, an age restriction of 15 years applies and anyone who is under 18 years of age will need to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. We do have a weight restriction of 100 kg (220 lbs) – our scooters and skateboards have been specifically designed to operate best with riders under 100 kg or under.
When should I book??
Preferably in advance. We are on the waterfront most days and you can book on arrival, but since we only have a limited capacity we can’t guarantee availability unless you have booked in advance.
We have a 24hr cancellation policy so if your circumstances change prior to 24 hours before your departure you can obtain a no-questions-asked refund (less $5 admin fee). We often accept rescheduling within that 24-hour period too, at our discretion.
What if the weather is not playing game (rain, snow, hail, tsunami…)?
In the event of heavy or continuous rain, or if you’re just concerned about the conditions, please call us an hour before your booking time to discuss options. If it is raining during your chosen hire time, we will discuss either rescheduling or a full refund.
How fast do they go?
Our scooters have a top speed of 28km/h (17mph) and our skateboards have a top speed of 35 km/h (22mph). This is dependent on the terrain and the weight of the rider. When riding you are in control – you can ride as fast or as a slow as you wish.
